Flying Aztec Push Ups

I am continuing my promise to post more articles and videos that I am reading from around the network, hopefully you enjoy these flying aztec push ups.

I can honstly NOT speak to the effectiveness of these since….well I can’t do them!   Embarassing right?

Aztec Push Ups

BUT I have worked on some of these other plyometric push ups that I posted last year.

Plyometric Push Up Variations

Read the full “Plyometric Push Up Variations” article for more insight!

What do you think?

Which push up is harder – Aztec or Cem’s flipping end to end? (we need a name for it…maybe “The Whirlie Bird”)

Wow, how the hell did he do those Aztecs?

I am thinking the “whirlie bird” is gonna be tougher, more muscles recruiting, balance, power, speed, strength all in one movement, more so than the first one.

Both are gonna destroy your core though!

Cheers Joe, Now I am gonna be compelled to try them out :-)

Haha, thanks for adopting the whirlie bird name Dean!

I can come close to those, aztecs not even near. I can’t get my butt that high in the air to touch my toes.

I learned how to do a plyo push up kinda by accident. I keep telling myself I’d make a youtube video with progressions showing how I got there. I make goals of how far across the room I can go. They’re really quite easy. Someone showed me a move where you put your feet on a bench. Then you jump your feet up and down from the floor to the bench while in a plank with your hands on the floor, then you do some push ups. So I started doing that and then did some clap push ups. After that, I was able to do the plyo push ups with my whole body coming off the ground. The brain just had to learn it. I’ll see if I can do the Aztec push up tomorrow.

Totally agree with Dean, your core will be toast with either… I´m guessing the Aztec push-up will be harder..

I’m going to test everyone in the gym to see if anyone can pull it off. Im not even sure if the flyweights can get it done like that guy!
