As I sit down to type this, it is 4:37 am and I’m rocking 5 hours of sleep in two days.
Why?
Because I can’t! I feel like a kid on Christmas Eve where I can’t wait for morning to come to see what awesome stuff is going to happen today!
Like I mentioned in the last newsletter, I’m going to keep a quick running journal of my trip to Ohio and the Arnold Sports festival.
I brought my friend Rob from the 13 Pull Up Variation Video. I’m trying to be quite so I don’t wake him up, but then again he had two jobs on this trip. Don’t forget things and don’t be a jerk. So what does he do? Leave our shirts at RMU and then flip the tire right into a puddle. What a jerk!!! (just busting his chops)

Day 1 was crazier than I had ever imagined (even though I had This Crazy Day – Police Chase Edition – In the fall)
The Strength Training Community is Awesome.
I put up a post on my facebook last week that I would be heading out and I instantly received messages and comments from people in the strength community about travel tips, getting workouts in, helping me with hotels, and much more.
Sure there are some haters out there, but overall the strength community takes care of people and is packed with good men and women.
I could have never imagined all the help people have given me in setting up this trip!
So what exactly has been going on?
Friday
- Woke up at 2 am, drove to Pittsburgh
- Got lost in the city for an hour. There must be 100 bridges and more tunnels there than I had ever seen before!
- Trained at Robert Morris University with Todd Hamer and Rick Canter, strongman style until 12:30 pm, until someone flipped the tire into the water….
- Ate a huge and unhealthy sandwich at a famous restaurant
- Drove to Denison University in Granville, Ohio.
- Ate another huge sandwich….(chicken this time!)
- Trained with Mark Watts and Staff – great group of guys until 6:45 pm…strongman style again!
- Drove to EAS Headquarters in Columbus Ohio – trained and talked with Rob Williams until 9:30 pm
- Got to the hotel around 11 pm and just reflected for awhile.
I could have spent all day at any of those places and had an awesome time. Heck, I could spend a week with all those guys and just scratch the surface of some great training discussions.

Anyways, I made SURE to take lots of videos to hook you guys up with, but for now the pictures will have to do! By the time I get this out, it will be time to train with Rob Pilger out at Westside and then support Jedd in his competition at the Arnold.
None of this would be possible without the huge amount of character strength in the training community and a thank you to everyone that has helped me out!
Community
Being part of something is great. I literally am running on fumes at best, but can’t even close my eyes anymore! We are still building the Synergy Athletics Community with our (your and my) discussions via comments on posts, YouTube videos and newsletter.
The picture is NOT blurry just because of puddle Rob’s crappy camera work – I’m doing planks to push ups at something like 3 G’s of vibration….Scrambled my brain.
I’ll throw up a sign in form on the bottom of this post, but if you want to be part this amazing strength movement make sure to join the newsletter below!
I have become good friends with many people through this website and it has been an absolute blessing!
=> COMMENTS NEEDED: Any stories about the strength training community helping you out? Post them up!

PS. I have 123 video clips spanning 1 hr and 29 minutes to get out from just day 1!
