“Slapping Bridges” – Variety is the spice of life!

November 15, 2008 on 10:53 am | In Strength Training | 1 Comment

Have you ever attempted to perform an abdominal bridge for time?  It turns into a physical and mental battle!  With this bridging variation, athletes have an increased concentration and purpose while bridging.  The goal is to create tension on the core through the bridge, then rotate and hit the bag with a swooping strike.

Benefits: Core stability, shoulder stability, strength, and it gives a mental break to bridging.

“Slapping Bridges”

*Tips*
-Make sure you do not “U” your lower back, that puts more stress on the lumbar spine than the abdominal region.

-Flex your abs, but do not draw them into your spine, push them out to stabilize the entire core.
