On January 1st, I posted an article on goal setting to kick off the New’s Years. Today, I’d like to take a few minutes to share my personal goals and have other people post theirs.
But first, a little background story. In college there was a trend to get people to adhere to their goals. There was this semi-popular website called Am I Hot Or Not where people obsessed with themselves would post up their pictures and people would rate if they were hot…or not.
The idea was to take a picture of yourself and give it to a friend. Tell them to post it there in 2 months OR you can replace it with your new picture after two months. In other words, either you trained hard and built muscle, or your old picture was going on the net.
Now, I think that might be a little extreme, but one crucial part of achieving your goals is telling others. It helps eliminate backdoor excuses.
So here I am sharing with you a few goals for myself.
I hate the excuse “I have long arms so I can’t bench.” I hear it a lot. At 6′5 I do have some lanky arms. I don’t care, I would like to press 400 lbs by Christmas.
I will cut 10 lbs, the health way, in 30 days.
Lastly, a Synergy Athletics related goal, I would like to continue to grow the website and add another 1,000 subscribers to the newsletter. I will continue to submit guest articles and provide strength training content until we get that goal! (A little spreading the word to your friends would go a long way!)
Let’s do it. Post up a goal of yours in the comments and we will revisit this post in a few months, check who is keeping their word!
Remember, telling others will help you succeed so please don’t be shy!
Also, don’t let other’s tell you that you can’t succeed. It’s happened in the past….

After having to take 6 months off from training in 2008, 2009 has been a get back after things year for me. My goal is to beat all my raw lifts by the end of the year. Not sure if I’ll make it, but I am working hard toward it. So, I want to at a minimum, bench 300, squat 330, and deadlift 405. Once I do that, I’ll be ready for more goals. Until then, this is all I think about in the gym. Good luck on your goals Joe!
My goal in life will come to fruition on October 24 when one of my boys places at the Super 32.
Second, I wanna be able to take 2 weeks off with ZERO training.
As always, love the site Joe.

awesome video, thanks for sharing!
since I had knee issues, I want to overcome them and just be able to squat again. Doesn’t matter how much, it would be a win for me just to squat!
