Hip Mobility and Flexibility

There is a particular issue that is prominent in high school age athletes, especially

football and basketball players.  The issue is back pain that many people attribute to

“growing pains.”  However the true issue is more likely to be tight hip flexors and

hamstrings.  The hip flexor is one of the strongest muscle group in terms of cross

sections and has many uses including running and jumping.  Some of our athletes have

complained about lower back issues over the summer.  In each situation, we had the

athletes stretch their hip flexors and it alleviated the pain in 7-10 days.  In the upcoming

season, many of you or your players could face this same issue.  To help combat this,
